Safe Handling and Transport of Solid Bulk Cargoes

Carrying solid bulk cargoes involves serious risks, such as reduced ship stability, capsizing, fire or explosion, and damage to ship structures. The IMSBC Code provides guidance about the necessary practices and procedures to be followed and the appropriate precautions to be taken in the loading, trimming, carriage, and discharge of solid bulk cargoes when transported by sea.

Highlights:

The aim of this course is to briefly present the main contents of the IMSBC Code regarding the loading of solid bulk cargoes, hold preparation and cleaning and the safety precautions that should be applied when transporting solid bulk cargoes.

2. Identify the different Solid Bulk Cargo types.
3. Comprehend the process of hold preparation and cleaning.
