Any number of errors or missed opportunities for safety precautions could lead to an accident, that may result in injuries or even death. Unfortunately, there are many examples of workers in the shipping industry getting hurt or even killed, during crane or cargo operations. Therefore, the necessary testing, examination and maintenance guidelines should be applied to ensure safety on board.

The aim of this course is to familiarize the crew on board vessels with the testing, examination and maintenance guidelines for Hose Handling Cranes.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the importance of carrying out proper testing, examination and maintenance of Hose Handling (HH) Cranes.
- Identify the steps of a thorough examination of Hose Handling (HH) Cranes.
- Understand the procedure of routine maintenance of Hose Handling (HH) Cranes, which includes the maintenance of wire ropes, hydraulic oil, brakes and safety devices
